As soon as possible! Lots of brides book their seamstress as soon as they purchase their wedding dress, ensuring plenty of time for all the essential alterations, perfecting the fit and adding any beautiful bespoke touches they have in mind.Every dress is different, and I want to make sure there’s enough time to give your gown the care and attention it deserves, without any last-minute stress. My diary can fill up well in advance, so the earlier you secure your place, the better chance you’ll have of getting your preferred fitting dates and times, especially if you need a Saturday or evening appointment. If you’ve found your dream dress, it’s never too early to get in touch. I’d love to hear all about it!
All bookings are handled personally by email, so you’ll always be in touch with me directly. The easiest way to get started is to fill out the contact form on my website. Please take the time to read through everything carefully, so you know exactly what to expect. If you’re happy with all the information and would like to go ahead, I’ll then email you an invoice for a £35 booking deposit to secure your fitting space.Your deposit is non-refundable, but don’t worry it will be deducted from your final invoice.I want you to feel informed, comfortable and confident from the very first email, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions along the way. I’m always happy to help!
You’re very welcome to bring a couple of special people along to share your fitting experience with you. I know how lovely it is to have your loved ones there to see your dress coming together. My sewing studio has limited space. I need room to move around you comfortably while working on your dress, as well as enough floor space for you to walk, move and try sitting in your gown so we can check the length, fit and movement. This helps me make sure you get the most out of your appointment while keeping the fitting space comfortable for everyone.
Absolutely! I offer fittings on one Saturday each month, as well as evening appointments every Wednesday, with availability until 10pm.Saturday and evening appointments are always very popular and tend to book up quickly, so if these are your preferred options, I’d recommend booking in as early as possible to secure a time that works best for you.
To make the most of your fitting, there are a few important things to bring along with you..Your wedding dress , Of course, this is the most important one!Your wedding shoes – Or a pair with the same heel height as the shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day. This is essential for getting your hem length just right. Your wedding underwear – Please bring the underwear you intend to wear beneath your dress, including any shapewear or specialist bridal lingerie. The right underwear can make a real difference to the fit and finish of your gown. Your accessories – I always recommend bringing along any veils, jewellery, belts, hair accessories or other finishing touches you’re planning to wear. It’s lovely to see everything together, and I can help you decide how best to style your dress.A little note about sizing: Ideally, you should be at the size you expect to be on your wedding day by your first fitting, and try to maintain a relatively consistent shape throughout your fittings. This helps me achieve the best possible fit for you. If you do expect your size to change, please let me know so we can plan your alterations accordingly. My aim is to make sure you feel comfortable, confident and absolutely beautiful in your dress, so please bring along anything you’re unsure about. I’m always happy to help!
Well, firstly, congratulations! What exciting news! Please don’t worry at all. If you find out you’re expecting, simply let me know as soon as possible by replying to our existing email thread, and we can make a plan together.Baby bumps can change quite a lot in those final weeks, so I’ll usually rearrange your dress fittings to much nearer your wedding day, with your final fitting typically around three weeks before your wedding. This allows your bump as much time as possible to grow before we perfect the fit of your dress. Most wedding dresses have some seam allowance that may allow us to let the dress out by a few extra inches if needed. Before changing your fitting schedule, I’ll always check with your dress designer and review photographs of the internal seam allowance, so we know what options we have and can avoid any last-minute surprises.I also recommend sourcing some additional matching fabric wherever possible, just in case we need a little extra room for your growing bump. It’s always better to be prepared!Every dress and every pregnancy is different, but we’ll work together to make sure your gown fits beautifully and you feel comfortable and confident on your special day. You can relax knowing we’ll plan everything as carefully as possible.
My little sewing studio is tucked away in the lovely village of Holt, Wiltshire, between Bradford on Avon and Melksham. There’s free parking right outside the studio, making it easy to pop in for your fittings. If you fancy making a day of it with your bridal party, Holt has two lovely pubs and an amazing café to enjoy before or after your appointment. It’s also just a 5-minute drive into Bradford on Avon and around 20 minutes from Bath, so there’s plenty to explore nearby.I love welcoming brides into my little studio, and I hope you’ll enjoy making a visit part of your wedding dress journey!.
Most wedding dresses have built in boning and support, meaning you may not need to wear a bra at all. However, if you would like a little extra shape, comfort or support, I have bra cups available that can be sewn into your dress. If you prefer to wear a bra, it’s important to make sure your dress allows for this, so we can plan accordingly during your fittings. I can also sew a bra discreetly into your dress so it remains hidden, or add extra boning to provide additional structure, shape and support.Every bride is different, so we can discuss what will work best for you and your dress to help you feel comfortable, confident and beautifully supported on your wedding day.
Wedding dress consultations are available for £35 per hour. These are perfect if you would like to discuss potential alterations, explore different options or simply get some advice and ideas before deciding what you would like to do with your dress. I have baskets full of treasures: delicate sleeves, lace, beads, belts, buttons, ribbons, and even tiny blue additions. With a head full of creative ideas, a sketchbook always at hand, and plenty of visuals to explore together,Whether you’re dreaming of adding sleeves, changing the neckline, incorporating beautiful lace details or making your dress feel a little more you, I’m always happy to chat through the possibilities and help bring your vision to life.
If you need to reschedule your appointment, that’s absolutely fine. I simply ask that you contact me as soon as possible so we can look at arranging an alternative date.During the busy wedding season, appointments are very limited, so I kindly ask that you remain as flexible as possible when rescheduling. I will always do my very best to accommodate you where I can. Please note that appointment fees are paid to secure your dedicated time and space in my diary. As these appointments are reserved especially for you, deposits are non-refundable.
It happens! Sometimes you choose your wedding shoes and then realise they’re just too uncomfortable to wear all day. However, if your hem has already been completed and you decide to change to a different pair of shoes, there will unfortunately be an additional charge to recheck your fitting and adjust your hem.I would strongly encourage you to choose your wedding shoes carefully and practise wearing them around the house before your fitting, just to make sure they’re comfortable enough to wear throughout your wedding day.Your shoe height makes a real difference to the length of your dress, so changing shoes after your hem has been finished can mean your dress is suddenly too long or too short. I want you to feel comfortable and confident walking down the aisle, so it’s always best to have your shoes decided before we finalise your hem.
Payment is due in full upon collection of your wedding dress. Unfortunately, dresses cannot be released until payment has been received.Your invoice will include a secure payment link with instructions on how to pay. I accept payment by bank transfer only and am unable to accept cash or card payments.
There is plenty of free parking on our driveway. On fitting days I have clients every hour so please don't pull up in the middle of the drive, allow room for other cars to park as well, this is to avoid people knocking asking you to move your car and disrupting your fitting time! Please only park on the gravel drive, do not park on the tarmac as the neighbours use this to turn around.
